On August 24th, the Associated Builders & Contractors of Arkansas hosted a lunch & learn and Zoom event where our expert attorney, Greg Northern with Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, P.C., discussed the current status of Medical Marijuana Laws in our state. He gave a brief overview of drug testing standards and legal issues followed by a discussion on recent trends in Arkansas that included: recreational marijuana use during non-working hours and legal liabilities (Workers’ Comp, insurance coverage, negligent hiring/retention, etc.); medical marijuana use and status of Safety Sensitive designations; permission/Prohibition of other “legal” drugs, such as hemp/CBD and prescription medications; and the pending legal challenges in Arkansas.
